Your teen can see active safety checks in Companion. Families should review the device coverage and permissions together during setup.

Focused parent experience

The parent experience is built around Safety Moments, context, and conversation guidance. It is not a searchable archive or a continuous message feed.

Device-specific limits

What Guardian can check changes by device, enabled permissions, and service. On iPhone, Mac Bridge works from a Finder backup the family selects; it is not live iMessage monitoring.

Connected accounts (TikTok and Instagram)

Connecting an account is optional, and the account holder decides. For TikTok, a parent asks and the teen chooses on their own phone: Companion shows exactly what would be read and what would not, and the teen signs in on TikTok themselves. Vettly never sees or stores the account password, and the teen can see what is connected and disconnect it at any time.

• TikTok: Vettly reads the profile name and username, the public videos and their captions, and public comments on them.
• Instagram: only Business and Creator accounts can be connected. Vettly reads the profile, media captions and comments. Personal Instagram accounts cannot be connected.
• Direct messages: neither connection gives Vettly access to direct messages, and Vettly does not request it.
• How it is used: the same focused safety checks as every other Guardian source. Parents receive Safety Moments, not a browsable feed. Text that does not create a Safety Moment is removed after it is checked.
• Storage: access tokens are encrypted at rest.
• Disconnecting: a teen can disconnect in Vettly Companion (Settings, then Connected accounts). A parent can disconnect in Vettly Family (Controls, then Connected accounts). Vettly asks the provider to revoke its access and deletes the stored tokens. Anyone can also remove Vettly from the provider’s own connected-apps settings. Deleting a child profile or your account removes connected accounts and their data too.
